To make your experience and/or holiday unique, we have put together some useful information and tips for your arrival, picking up your rental equipment and your entire stay. 

Our aim is to give you the best possible adventure in the mountains. And this is only possible with the right rental sports equipment, a proper tour guide and lots of helpful tips on equipment and refreshment stops.

Arrival & Pick up

GOOD TO KNOW

Everything you need for a smooth pick-up

As you have booked your rental online, you benefit from faster collection on site. We have already entered your details in the system, you don't have to register at the check-in terminal and the items you want are already reserved in your size. We are prepared for your individual needs. We will advise you on site and for example, can help you adjust the saddle height of your e-bike.

Please note that in summer, we cannot offer collection the day before . Your hire items will be ready for you in our shop from 9 a.m. on the starting date of your rental. 

  • You always need your booking confirmation, whether digital or printed.

    If you are using your own relevant equipment, please bring this with you (e.g. ski boots) so that we can make the appropriate adjustments to the hire items. 

    You will receive the booking confirmation directly after the online booking to the e-mail address you have provided.

  • Collection before the first day of hire is possible for some hire items. We will inform you of this in the booking section of the respective item when you book online. These items can then be collected before the first day of hire from 3 pm, provided you have selected collection the day before when booking. 

  • No. It is sufficient if you have the booking confirmation with you in digital form.

  • We always keep our rental equipment up to date. We can therefore not guarantee that you will receive exactly the same equipment as last year. However, if you book the same product category again, you will receive a comparable item.

Our tip: Additional gadgets

You can choose additional items for your rental product on site. We offer the following gadgets free of charge and only charge a deposit of €5 or €10:

  • Bike lock
  • Charger for the e-bike battery
  • Sun canopy for the mountain buggy
  • Rain cover for the mountain buggy

Have you planned a particularly long tour and don't know whether you can charge your bike battery on the way? You can also hire a spare battery from us for a daily hire charge. 

ARRIVAL & PICK UP

BE GENTLE WITH THE RENTAL

Unfortunately, we often find that people don't care how they treat products that they have ‘only’ rented. We would therefore like to ask you in advance to handle our rental items with care. We will show you how to use the gears or the e-bike board computer on site. Our e-bikes are a maximum of 1-2 years old and are regularly maintained to such a high standard that broken suspension forks or complete chain breaks are usually due to improper use.

We would therefore like to draw your attention once again to our terms and conditions relating to the included e-bike protection fee and proper use. 

As the e-bikes are booked daily during the summer season, we also ask you to return the items in good time at the end of the hire period. We clean and check each bike before re-renting it and therefore need the time in the evening for servicing. 

  • All bike prices include a nominal charge of 10% for all repairable damage that is within the normal range of use of the bike. In the event of damage beyond this, the renter is liable for 20% of the repair costs.

    In the event of theft, the hirer is liable for the current market value of the bike, which is calculated on the basis of the purchase value and previous hire transactions.

  • In principle, you are allowed to ride your rental bike on all trails where biking is not prohibited and where you are confident in your riding ability.

    It is not permitted to ride in bike parks on our rental bikes.

  • No. You do not have to return the bike cleaned. However, if you have an easy way to clean your bike, we will of course be happy if the bike does not come back to us completely dirty.

  • Mountain bikes, e-bikes and via ferrata sets must be returned half an hour before closing time on the last day of hire.

    All other hire items must be returned to the Sport & Mode Kessler shop by 9.30 a.m. at the latest on the day following the end of the hire period. 

    Please note that we will charge additional hire fees or an overdraft fee for late returns. You can find detailed information on this in our terms and conditions.

    We will also inform you again on site about the current return times. 

  • If the equipment is returned too late on the following day, we will have to charge for a further day's hire as we will not be able to hire the item on the following day.

    Please note that bikes must be returned half an hour before closing time on the last day of hire. In the event of late return, we will charge an overdue fee for the additional work involved. Further information can be found in our terms and conditions

  • No. Rental items can only be returned during opening hours.

Always there for you!

As the only shop and bike rental in Kleinwalsertal, we are there for you 7 days a week from Ascension Day to All Saints' Day, i.e. from May to November.

Please note that we close the Sport & Mode Kessler shop for lunch between 12.30 pm and 2.00 pm.

In the evening we are there for you until 6 pm, on Sundays and public holidays we close at 5 pm. 

During your holiday

THE RIGHT SUPPORT DURING YOUR HOLIDAY

To make sure your bike is fit for the mountains, it makes sense to have an expert look at your equipment. Is the chain tension correct? Are the gears adjusted correctly? Do your brakes need new fluid?

Our bike service includes targeted service and repair for individual components, but also packages such as the bike check. Incidentally, you can also book this simply, directly before you arrive and thus secure a suitable appointment. For planning reasons, a booking ahead time of 7 days is required. 

Please note that we offer comprehensive bike services from Monday to Friday. At weekends, our service team is there for you for emergency repairs. 

  • During the ‘bike check’ your bike is thoroughly cleaned and checked. We check the following parts:

    Front wheel: Hub play, quick release/ thru axle, spokes, tyre tread, air pressure, brake pads, brake disc thickness, fork play
    Rear wheel: Hub play, quick release/ thru axle, spokes, tyre tread, air pressure, brake pads, brake disc thickness
    Stem/handlebars: Stem bolts, Ahead claw, handlebar attachments
    Frame: Attachments, saddle, quick-release seat tube
    Drive: bottom bracket, crankset, pedals, chain, sprocket, gears
    E-bike: software update, cables, display, drive functions

  • When and how often a bike service should be carried out naturally depends on how much you use your bike. If you are constantly on your bike and are out and about in all weathers, we recommend two inspections a year.

    If you have any specific problems or abnormalities, it's best to visit us straight away. For example, it is better to have a grinding brake checked early on than to accept that major repairs will have to be carried out later or that the braking performance will deteriorate.

  • Our bike service is available Monday to Friday during the shop's opening hours.

    At the weekend, we can carry out minor, urgent repairs for you, e.g. a flat tyre or a broken chain.

Park your e-bike safely after the tour and charge it overnight at the same time? Stow your helmet, bike shoes and backpack and not carry them to the hotel?

E-Bike Tours

Explore the Kleinwalsertal bike area with your private guide. Whether it's a half-day or full-day tour, for beginners, advanced riders or trail specialists - hours of enjoyment and riding fun are guaranteed. Groups of up to 12 people can be booked.

Top tip: When accompanied by a guide, you can also use the major mountain railroads with your bike!

Good to know!

There is an e-bike charging station with two charging sockets at the council (Gemeindeamt) in Riezlern. When you pick up your bike, you will also receive a charging cable and/or battery key from us (for a small deposit), so that you can charge it at any time, for example at your accommodation. 

You will find service stations at various huts in case of a problem. 

If you book a mountain bike tour with one of the local mountain bike schools, you can use both the Kanzelwand and Walmendingerhorn cable cars with your bike (daily between 8:30am and 9:30am).

Biking

Only with the right clothing and equipment will your tour through Kleinwalsertal become an exciting adventure.

We will equip you with a bike rucksack, trousers with seat pads and other accessories and spare parts as soon as you need them.

Short checklist for your mountain holiday

Summer in the mountains - that can mean pretty much anything in terms of the weather. Sunshine and glorious 25-30 degrees Celsius, but rainy days or even short cold spells with snowfall on the mountains. Above all, the weather in the mountains can change much more quickly than you may be used to back home. 

That's why you should pack warm, breathable and water-repellent clothing for a relaxing time in Kleinwalsertal, as well as a short tank top, sunglasses and sun cream. 

Don't worry - if you realise when you get here that you have forgotten something or that you are missing something in your repertoire before you arrive, we will be happy to advise you in our shop.
